Great Blue Heron

A great blue heron.

Some great blue herons were seen roaming the park in trees, like the African Sacred Ibis and the Egret. The great blue herons feed mainly in shallow waters or sometimes in drier areas, feeding mainly on fish, frogs, small mammals, and occasionally small reptiles and insects. It has a slow flight, with its neck retracted. This is characteristic of herons and bitterns, and distinguishes them from storks, cranes, ibises, and spoonbills, which extend their necks in flight.
